I'm doing my first one next weekend. Have you ever done one before and did you do well out of it? Any tips?

No tips, but I love picking things up from places like this. Today at Leeds market I returned with about 10 old horror VHS tapes.

Smurfy be careful of people who nick stuff off your stall. It could be priced at 10p but someone will still want to nick it.

TIP - get there seriously early. the last one i did i got there a little late, and people were practically prying the car boot open with their fingers. following this was a very hectic 20 mins in which things didsappeared without trace and i had no time to set the tables up. it was madness. these people are scavengers!

Too right. Every Thursday in Leeds the market is absolutely packed as it's the car boot stall day, people clawing at various items of clothing - you would think they were beggars.

Just choose your boot sale carefully and get there early, as suggested.  I do them quite often and at some places they do descend on you like a plague of locusts, which is quite daunting.  If this happens just close the boot and refuse to open it again until they get back and give you room to unpack and get set up.

That would be cool if it didn't have the second apostrophe.
