Computer vision syndrome is a range of eye symptoms with back and neck pain.

Make sure the centre of your screen is 5 inches below eye level.

Take a break from your computer every hour.

Look away at distant objects every 30 minutes

Close eyes for 10 seonds every 30 minutes.

We get computer safety awareness at work and the guy in charge is dead-pan serious and comes round to measure our computer screens against our height. He once berated my boss for having a banana on her desk too close to the keyboard.   I had to leave the room.

It's idiots like the one at your work that give my profession a bad name for being over-zealous.

I scanned a copy of Andy Warhol's Banana and drew a red circle around it with a line through it and pinned it up over her desk.

Next day, Roger, the only male in the office, brought an inflatable banana in. The fun lasted us from October to Christmas.

What problem would that cause?

I can't imagine what damage a banana could do but it was all part of his no food or drink near the keyboard rules.

I'll have to tell her about the banana guard GC.

We have a list of things not allowed near your PC at work .. coffee, tea, donuts, Chelsea buns, enriched uranium, pornography, Kendal mint cake but no mention of bananas. I might contact H & S and ask tem to conduct a PC - banana risk assessment.

I can understand not wanting crumbs or liquids on the keyboard but what is enriched uranium?
