There are quite a few people missing from the forum this week. Paulham - where are you? Lemoneye? Miss your excellent retorts. (?? - I suddenly can't spell anymore).
Bobble - where are you? Haven't heard from you in ages! Sillyyank, chocolate chick - where have you all gone??
Thanks for noticing Oldspice. I haven't been too well over Christmas with a nasty virus that gave my family a horrible barking cough and then went for my middle ear. It isn't nice feeling dizzy and sick when you turn your head!
Choc Chick- well done!
Thank you Lou.
I am a lot better.
Hi Choc snackers, it's your friendly neighbourhood Time Lord here.
How you all doin on Li'l Ol earth. Hope you had a great Christmas. I had Christmas in 1947, what a year that was. I went skating on the Thames and had Goose and pork for dinner.
See you soon - The Doc
Hey, Paulham, glad you are feeling much better.
Dr Who - if you really were in London for Christmas in 1947 I think you will find it was quite a bleak year. Despite the end of the war, rationing was even more servere than it had been due to food shortages and production difficulties. The country was deeply in debt and the winter was bitter.
Of course Oldspice you are quite correct but I was staying with a guy who owned a jewellers shop and had been sent all sorts of goodies from the USA including sugared dried fruit and whatever. I realise that for many these were hard times and I didn't mean to make light of the awful winter.
Skating on the Thames was fun though.
I'm still back at home in the States, so that's why I've been absent. Anyway, hope everyone had a great holiday season!
