Title: School reunions
Post by: loulou on August 10, 2006, 10:53:23 pm

Have you been to one? Was it good or bad?

Would you go to one?

If not , why?

I say no I haven't, no I wouldn't and the reason is because if I liked any of them I would have kept in touch.

I have been to one, around 10 years ago, and it was quite fun.  Got back in touch with quite a few friends and we have met up loads of times since.

I have never been asked to one but I can see one coming up next year, as it will be 10 years since our year left sixth form (I left at 16). For years I have always said I wouldn't consider going as there are very good reasons I haven't seen this people in ten years. However, if anything particularly fantastic happens to me in the near future I think I might go just to rub everyone's nose in it

I went on friendsreunited and how is it everyone I went to school with is a model or very rich and living abroad and they all drive £70,000 cars. I don't think I want to meet up with people who are going to lie to me.

Everyone from my school was very honest - at least I hope so, because if they've been embellishing, their real lives must be hell!

I would never do it because most were a***holes that I never kept in touch with.

My husband works for Lotus and I am considering getting him to lend me a car for the weekend, but I know he won't as he knows my track record with cars.

I went to a school reunion when we all turned 30. I was pregnant at the time. I was horrified to discover tall, slim, athletic, school heart-throb Riki had turned into a fat, balding, boring couch-potato.

Some people hadn't changed at all. One chap, who had been the school bully, took one look at my swollen belly under my smock and remarked "I see someone gave you one at last".

I have not attended another school reunion.

In English lesson I once wrote a poem called Spell To Make School Go
Away. Someone else wrote one to make the school explode.

Carrie, Sissy would be a silly name for a cat, she would be embarassed every time I called her.

My best friend and I speak on the phone everyday and we met at school 29 years ago. I was bridesmaid at her wedding and godmother to her 2 kids. I occasionally see people I went to school with and quite a few of them have grandchildren now. I've never been to a reunion as I feel anyone doing anything with their lives probably won't be there and the people there will be exaggerating their lives trying not to look like they have been left behind.

That's really sad Lorri - is there no way you can get in touch with them?  I'm sure they'd appreciate it.

sadly not GC they were taken to sweden by their Dad and the woman who used to be the "baby sitter". He gave no one here any contact details not even their grandmother
