Title: Anyone going to Italy?
Post by: loulou on August 06, 2006, 06:40:31 pm

An Italian resort plans to create all-female beach sections for Muslim women wishing to shed their headscarves and long robes to enjoy the sun in privacy.

Riccione, a resort town on Italy's eastern coast, will let hotels set up partitions on the shoreline to satisfy requests from growing numbers of Arab and Muslim tourists.

A Muslim fun day at Alton Towers has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.

Organisers had hoped to attract 20,000 Muslims to the Staffordshire theme park on September 17. Special provisions had been agreed, including a ban on alcohol and gaming machines in public areas. Segregated adult ride zones had also been negotiated, as well as halal food stalls and prayer areas.

An Alton Towers spokeswoman said: "Insufficient ticket sales has meant that Islamic Leisure was unable to fulfil its contractual obligations and so they have taken the decision to cancel the event."

Mmmm.... Islam gets a very bad press and these sorts of jibes don't help.

Why has it become fashionable to have jokes at the expense of Islam?  The reason why there was insufficient ticket sales is because people don't like to be patronised, whatever their religions.  I know several muslims including one or two relatively fundamental ones and they are quite normal.

However, there are large sections of their community who are unwilling/unable to intergrate and this is an issue.

They? Who, Islamic leisure? In what sense do they represent Islam and Muslims in general?

They are promoting the values that I saw a lot of young Muslims preach on Channel 4 an hour ago.

I know a muslim man called Saleh who believes suicide bombers take 12 of their friends to heaven and have 7 vestal virgins with them or something like that. He is quite brainwashed. loulou38936.9883217593

It's 70 virgins - and apparently the passage has been misconstrued, and it actually means 70 magnums of champagne!

  1. The 'jibe' refers back to the original information that stated special prayer areas have been set aside.

  2. I have no problem with Muslims.

  3. I know several Muslims who would have laughed at that 'jibe'.

Nothing worse than a non-muslim getting all self-righteous.
