Title: Wine from the pub
Post by: smurfboy on August 04, 2006, 12:49:56 pm

Have you ever bought a bottle of wine from a pub to take out? They do this all the time on Corrie and Eastenders - despite the fact they could easily nip to Dev's or the Minute Mart - but I've never seen anyone do it in real life.

No I have never done it or seen anyone else do it. Won't it be too expensive?

Exactly - which is why I can never understand why supposedly cash-strapped soap characters do it on a weekly basis!

I agree. I would never buy a bottle of wine to take out in a pub. I would find an off-licence or supermarket.

Neither would I go to Roy's or 'the caff' for a cup of tea/coffee when I live just across the street and could easily make one at home.

And why does nearly everyone on Corrie have a fried breakfast every morning? Why isn't there more heart disease among the residents?

And people never go to the toilet in soaps except if they're in the pub.

And have you noticed how often Kevin and Sally and the people who live in the Rovers wake up one mroning to find their living room has been decorated overnight? Why doesn't that happen to Ken a Deirdre?

Why doesn't anyone in Eastenders own a washing machine?

We've always said that! Any old Tom, Dick or Harry can wave a wad of dosh around and buy 'the arches' or 'the vic' or 'the e20' but they can't buy a washing machine!!

And in Eastenders they always say 'I'll see you in the caff at lunchtime' or 'in the Vic after work, yeah?' Lunchtime could be any time between 12 and 2! And how do people instinctively know what time 'after work' is?

In EastEnders, 'after work' invariably means 2pm.
