Well, for the first time in 10 years I haven't worked for ages. I have been off sick since May and spent alot of this time stuck in the house.
However, I have regained a little of my freedom now, so I am going to share with you my secrets.
First came home bargains, which basically is okay to shop in, and has loads of brand names reduced. I have picked some lovely little things for the kids for christmas for dead cheap prices. Got series 10 of Friends for 99p a DVD, and a fantastic kingsize duvet set for £6.99
Then there is Argos Clearance, its basically end of runs from argos, dead cheap. We had a brand new game cube for £29.99 and some new curtains for our bedroom for £5.99, and they are lovely.
Oh, don't forget Next Clearance aswell, we got a new sofa bed which was pretty muchdesperate for £300, should have been £1049 in the catalogue. But, it was still in the plastic wrapper and all was dandy. Only had our first house guest on it last week, which was very exciting.
But then we come to Farmfoods, I always thought this place was the lowest of the low, really would never go in there. But, then I realised they did brand names, so I toodled along. It had 2 tubs of Ben n Jerrys ice cream for £2 (usually about £3.99 in the shops) They also have the massive pies I usually get in Morrisons for £2.99 for £1.50 each. It has made shopping a whole lot easier. It is also much cheaper on basic;s such as milk ( £1 for 2 pionts) and kingsmill bread 2 for £1. As with anything you have to be choosy when you get there, but its worth it.
I have also started R+Ring in Tesco's. Basically Tesco have a policy that if they overcharge you on any item you get the money back and get to keep the item. Last week i had a couple of chooks from there for free. They were mahoosive ones aswell, £5 odd a chook, but as they overcharged me I got my money back. If you shop in tesco its just a case of looking at the shelf label and the label on the item. If they don't match up and you are charged higher than the shelf edge label then you are quids in.
Oh, another godsend is IKEa, they do lovely meatballs for £3 a bag ( 1kg) and they are by far the nicest I have eaten so far.
So, there you go, all my tips for shopping, even if it makes you a scabber :P
It does rock, had thomas trains from there dead cheap. :)
The one in Liverpool has Ben & Jerries. It's 2 for £2, but only available in 1 flavour.
The flavour is called 'The Vermoster' or something similar, and comtains Maple Syrup and Pecan Nuts.
Salsa, which Farmfoods had B and J?
west bromwich, bloxwich road, and brownhills.
Brownhills had Vermonster and Minter Wonderland.
At last a reason to go to Walsall!
I like to listen to Radio 4 in the afternoons. There are some good plays on and interesting programmes.
Afternoon TV is terrible now. Does anyone remember Crown Court and all those wobbly Aussie soaps like The Young Doctors (not one of them under 40 I think).
There has actually been a good afternoon play on BBC1, but by then I am usually asleep.
Sleeping is the worst, I could do it all the time.
Walsall isn't that bad :P
I think it's more a case of who GC has to go and visit in Walsall than Walsall itself
I also know where there is a wonderful greasy spoon cafe aswell.
Who is it you visit in Walsall then?
should they be referred to as outlaws?
I feel the same about visiting the MIL, she is a witch.
