Title: Insensitive McDonalds advert
Post by: phyllisbermann on July 26, 2006, 12:14:30 am
Who has seen the McDonalds advert with the bouncy caste?

Isn't a bit insensitive to show that and commercially crazy after the accident at Chester-ler-Street?

I was shocked.

Is it insensitive to show an advert for cars if someone has been run over?

That happens all the time.  This was a FREAK accident and a one off.  Therefore, they should withdraw this advert.

In Chester ler Street a bouncy castle maze got picked up by the wind and dropped 70ft.  Two people died.

The McDonalds advert maze looks remarkably similar.

I think it is inappropriate.  They should withdraw the advert.

I can understand if people are upset, but if an advert was withdrawn
because of this, what else does it mean should be banned? Where does it
stop? We are already a nanny state as it is.

Don't be silly. So whenever someone dies are you saying that all
adverts that having anything in common with it should be taken off TV?
Why not remove all the images of bouncy castles from google while
you're at it.

Perhaps withdrawing the ad is a bit much - but maybe they could have delayed it for a couple of weeks?

I actually think that pulling the advert would be silly, we need to stop treating everyone with kid gloves and get back to the real world.
