Title: Sleep paralysis
Post by: on July 15, 2006, 10:43:54 am

Has anyone else had this?  I get it a lot where you wake up but can't move.  When you dream the brain automatically cuts off all motor neuron paths to prevent you acting out your dreams.  Sometimes you wake up, and your cognitive faculties are working but the neuro pathways have not kicked in.  I had it last night and it lasted for about 15 seconds but seemed like hours!  It was frightening.

I have epilepsy and sometimes, after a fit when I am 'returning' I experience this. I know where my arms and legs are and how to move them but the message does not get through and nothing moves.

I 'think' I have had this although Im not sure if it's actually an out
of body experience. I once woke and saw a figure at the other side of
the room, and then I felt as if I was at the other side of the room. I
fell asleep not too long after.

No, I was awake when it happened, sort of anyway. I don't think it is
sleep paralysis, but it reminds me of it because of the sleep paralysis
where people see figures in their room and can't move.
