Syd Barrett, an early member of Pink Floyd and a huge influence on their musical direction has died at the age of 60. He left the band before they got really famous but his contribution was very significant. The album The Wall was basically all about Syd and his mental decline. RIP.

I have never heard of him, but I gather he was a big influence.
