Title: Grumpy old people
Post by: loulou on July 08, 2006, 12:40:45 am

When you meet a grumpy old person do you think they have become grumpy with age or they have been grumpy all their lives?

When you get to a certain age sometimes theres little to be happy
about. My grandad comes across as grumpy but in his case it's because
he has dementia. Some old people are just plain rude though and assume that
because they're old, they're superior.

It annoys me the way they block the pavement with those shopping trolley things.

It annoys me when they clog up the supermarkets at lunchtimes when I'm on my lunch break and in a hurry.  They should be banned from shopping during peak hours and on Saturdays.

I think grumpy old people are funny because they have such short memories. My brother-in-law (not all that old at 60) moans about the rudness and cockiness of young people, completely forgetting that he himself was a total thug, got sent to borstal and did not become a model citizen and reformed character until he was at least 45!!

My work with young people has taught me that they can be very grumpy. Give them more than half an A4 page of font 16 to read and they will huff, puff, tut, throw their legs out and sink into the chair and whine. tell them they have to work the whole two hours without a break and they start all over again. Tell them off for ariving late without pens and the proper equipment and they will whine "It's not my fault!! I got up late!!"

When I took my Son on holiday he was playing cowboys and indians (by himself) an old woman walked past and said in a really gumpy voice "God what is he going to grow up like"

So I turned round and said at least he won't be a miserable old goat like you!

My son is only 4 it's not like he was holding up the bank with his toy gun and cowboy outfit, silly old moo

Jamsi, I hope your son aimed his bow and arrow at the old hag and sent her on her way.

Some old people can be quite saucy. It's like they lose their sense of inhibition with age.

That woman on Pokerface last night was saucy, she was a mature lady

My mom's friend used to run an old people's home, and one Christmas one of the old ladies appeared at the top of the stairs naked. Pauline tried to keep things calm and said 'what do you want Doreen?' and the old woman yelled 'I want a MAN!'

I admire her in a way - I hope I'm like that at 80!
