Title: Genuinely sorry
Post by: on July 01, 2006, 07:50:15 pm

For you England fans that your team went out.

Portugal cheated their way there.

Ronaldo was obviously trying to play for a move away from Man Utd.

The guy who went down holding his face when he was barely touched on the body was disgusting too.

Cheats never prosper. Well here's hoping Portugal get what's coming to them.

Rooney must feel like a big man now though....

In my city, we have the biggest Portuguese community outside of Lisbon. I think Peterborough will burn tonight.

We have a huge Portugese population too, including most of the staff at the hotel where 'Mr Cup' works.  He will be suffering....

That plus having Elton John in a huge open-air concert just down the road from me - I'm staying in tonight!

My girlfriend is a quarter Portuguese and a half English.  She is somewhat gutted and slightly pleased.

From England's group performances and the Ecuador game, England were deluded if they thought the team could win the World Cup.  We were streets behind Italy and Brazil etc.  We showed no passion or consistency.   We were disorganised and uncoordinated.  Sven ought to go to the tower.  I've never seen such tactical ineptitude in my life!

The next bloke will be no good either, we should have had Martin O'Neil.

I think the reason we get shown up by teams such a Brazil and similar is because our team are too well fed and have never experienced the kind of poverty that can pluck you from the streets and remind you that you never want to be hungry again.

Rooney especially!

Seriously though, it's not all down to one match. England have under-performed throughout the competition and Eriksson's ridiculous squad selection didn't help. If England were a club squad instead of a national squad and you were the new manager coming in this summer, the first thing you would do is buy a new striker. Unfortunately McClaren doesn't have that option, so let's hope he remembers who Jermain Defoe is.

I'll say it now, to save time later.

McClaren must go!

He was fighting back the tears. Said he had made this decision a while back.

I saw him looking upset on the news but I presumed it was over the result.

For ten points: David Beckham was the first England captain not to hold which other role?
