Title: Bugger the Audience research polls
Post by: on June 25, 2006, 09:51:46 pm
When England play in the quarter finals put your kettle on half way through the first half.  This way the pollsters wont know what people have been watching as their will be a surge on the National grid for no reason.  Get all your friends to do the same.  Hee hee.

"Scottish Power has said it will be putting up gas and electricity prices...

The utility firm said gas bills were set to increase by an average of 17%, while the cost of electricity would rise by 10%. "

I know who will be laughing.

I wouldn't know where to start. Is it still the recipe from school : mash up 4 ounces butter and 4 ounces sugar, add a egg and then 8 ounces flour. Spend 30 minutes licking out the bowl and whats left chuck in oven.

It would make much more sense if people staggered when they put the kettle on. If EVERYONE did it half way through the first half they might still conclude that everyone watching needed a cuppa at that point. Anyway, most people dring a pint or Pimms or something long and cool during fottie games.

No, that would't work.  it needs a surge.  They wouldn't be able to conclude anything, that's the point.

Loulou, how do you boil your water for hot drinks if you haven't got a kettle?

Surely a power surge at half time in a major football match would be expected?

It takes a lot more energy to heat a pan of water then a kettle.

Oh for f**k's sake.  That's the point of the thread. If we do it and get all our friends and their friends to switch on at the same time it will scupper the poll.

I find a pan of water boils quite quickly on the gas stove.

I understand that for God's sake. What I DON'T understand is why I would want to do it! Or why anyone else would want to do it! I am struggling to think of anything that matters to me less than the results of a TV viewing poll. This has to be singly the most useless use of thirty seconds and a kettle full of water I can think of.
