Post by: smurfboy on May 22, 2006, 02:51:17 pm

Have you ever made a prediction that turned out to be embarrassingly wrong? I once saw this girl band on TV singing what I thought was an awful novelty song that would sink without trace. The band? The Spice Girls...

My M.A. lecturer was a book reviewer and once reviewed a poetry anthology on the role of Orangeman in Ulster. She dismissed it as pretty poor and said we'd never hear of this poet again. It was Seamus Heaney.

I did not believe Cliff Richard when he sang "I'll be a bachelor boy until my dying day".
