In terms of their overall league position in English football since it's inception, what are the top 10 most successful football clubs?  i.e 96 points for being champion of div 1/premiership and one point for coming bottom of div 4/league 2.

1.  Liverpool 5,071

2. Manchester United 5,037

3. Arsenal 4,851

4. Wolverhampton Wanders 4,702

5. Aston Villa 4,680

6. Preston North End 4,669

7. Sunderland 4,644

8. Everton 4,633

9. Blackburn Rovers 4,606

10. Burnley 4,605

Preston North End must've been very good a long time ago.  Oldspice?

Preston were once one of the country's top teams, but this was before even Oldspice's time  They were the last team before Arsenal to go unbeaten all season, and this was in about 1892!

Well judging by the league table they must have been successful a lot more recently than that!
