Title: Arrrrgggghhhh!
Post by: smurfboy on April 27, 2006, 08:15:47 pm

Our local pub was proudly displaying its new food menu today. Among the delicacies on offer are:

Burger's

Pizza's

Sandwich's

and of course that old favourite: Jacket Potato's

Why do people find this so difficult?

Argh! Was it a blackboard so you could rub out the mistakes?

I saw an advert on TV last night for a new quiz show coming to BBC4 called 'Never mind the full stops.' Unfortunately it just said 'coming soon' there was no specific date.

It was a blackboard and I was seriously tempted to run and fetch a cloth!

Never Mind The Full Stops

BBC 4

Julian Fellowes

Never Mind The Full Stops is a humorous new panel show for BBC 4, hosted by Oscar winning screen writer Julian Fellowes.

In every show Julian and four guests will discuss, debate and deconstruct all aspects of the English language; punish poor punctuation, glorify gracious grammar and generally celebrate the quirks and idiosyncrasies of our mother tongue. Pedants and Liberal grammarians welcome!

I have never noticed that one, thank goodness.

When did 'to-day' become 'today'? I was always taught to spell it with the hyphen but nobody these days seems to.

And when did 'all right' become 'alright'.
