As it is April Fools' Day I thought I would pose a few foolish thoughts that have been bugging me for a few weeks:

What ever happened to the Playtex 18-hour girdle?

AND...

In the song Tell Laura I Love Her, why were Tommy's last words..

bom, bom, bom, bom????

I don't know about Laura, but apparently the girdle had to go because of the advent of mass air travel. When flights started geting delayed girdles began exploding mid-air when the 18 hours came to an end. Fat everywhere. Neither pretty nor hygenic.

Do women still wear girdles? Did women really respond to the advert where the woman whispers "My girdle's killing me"

Why would anyone wear a 18 hour girdle on a plane flight? I don't wear any underwear cos I want to feel comfortable. Sometimes on a long flight i've been tempted to go to the toilets and put my jamas on.
