Title: Bar Six
Post by: oldspice on March 18, 2006, 09:02:37 am

This was a lovely bar, MUCH better than KitKat so where did it go???

Have you noticed that on their website Cadburys make no mention of any bars that they have discontinued? They don't seem to have an archive section. i bet this is because they don't want people clammering for their return!

It's because they are in partnership with New Labour's 'Let's make Britain crap campaign'.

New labour has done a lot for Britain. Maybe you are too well off to notice but if you were REALLY poor you are better off under labour. The only problem is, the lazy get better off too.

Bar Six conjure up fond childhood memories for me. I remember seeing them displayed in a chill display cabinet at a self service canteen. My first memory of "chilled chocolate".

I loved Bar Six

They do have a FAQ section on their website and 'what happened to Fry's Five Centres' is the second most asked question.

It tells you it was discontinued in 1992 and then there's a paragraph of flannel about consumer tastes changing and evolving etc.

Lets rub out the past!

I know I've said this before, but surely the fact that this is the second most asked question they get proves consumer tastes HAVEN'T changed?

I find that strange because two of my favourite chocolate products, Tunnock's Teacakes and Tunnock's Caramel Wafers have not changed their taste, consistency or even their wrappers in at least forty years and yet they are enormously popular. Tunnocks actuall trade on the notion that their products do not change!

That is due to the fact that Boyd Tunnock still runs the company. Eh..so I have been told.

In the 1970's I remember that the Tunnock's Caramel Wafers had a yellow fondant layer in the middle, now it's all just wafer and caramel.  Also, in the 1970's the wrapper said "More than 1,000,000 of these biscuits are made and sold every week" - what's the number now?  I think last time I looked it was 4,000,000.

Tunnocks Florida orange is a wafer with orange cream centre.

Chocolate caramel wafers have always been just that to my knowledge.

I will go with the majority view here, I must be suffering from false memory syndrome because I would put money on the fact that they did have a fondant layer!

Maybe a bit of Tunnocks research is called for......

They did make a bar without chocolate on it that had a kind of creamy, caramel filling.
