When did they get so big?
-
Did they?
-
I thourgh ther got smaller!
-
I thought they had got smaller? I am sure they were huge when I was little
-
No, you were just smaller.
-

-
Double Deckers did go large a few years ago. I'm not saying anything more......The Fifth Amendment
-
They are definitely bigger!!!
I'm quite kcal conscious, and sadly i remember when they contained 235kcal, and now they are 300kcal. Therefore I rarely have them nowadays!!!
-
Well if they are bigger I'll have one.
-
Large portion?
-
The bigger the better.
-
Definately when it comes to Double Deckers. So who eats the top layer first & who eats the bottom 1st? To do the latter is easier if its been in the fridge.
-
I don't buy them now they've taken the raisins out.
-
Where were the raisins? In the crunchy bit or the soft bit? Cadbury must have a down on raisins - the got rid of Amazin Raisin too.
-
*Crunch*
sigh!

Hello guys, just stumbled upon your site whilst reminiscing about sweets and my childhood. Following other topics on confectionary from the 70's-80's, like cabanas, 5 centres, and the infamous Cadbury's Bar Six, who can remember Banjo's which were two finger wafers covered in chocolate and came in 2 verieties, blue wrapper for peanut and the red wrapper for coconut. Also was there not a toffee bar? in the seventies called "nutty" which came in a brown wrapper and was covered in peanuts???????
Cadbury's have certainly let us all down in the past by withdrawing products like Cabana and taking the raisins out of the base of Double Deckers and I think they did it again by withdrawing coconut Boosts as well (probably the nearest they got to re-introducing the Cabana, but not quite) It'll be interesting to see what they come up with in the next 10-20 years.
-
Welcome Bonkers.
I was a huge fan of Bar Six and Cabanas and cannot understand why these were axed. Boosts I think are horrendous and I think they made a big mistake in getting rid of Wispa.

But wasn't Coconut Boost introduced in the mid-eighties anyway, which is when the Cabana was supposed to have been axed?
-
I thought the Cabana dissappeared in the early eighties. From memory it wasn't around for long. Appologies if that's not the case
-
I don't remember it at all myself, but I read on an eighties website that it only lasted a year. Most people on thid forum disagree with that though.

I can't be certain but it must have been a very long year as I recall! Still, when you are young, everything seems to last longer. (Ok, most things)
-
There is no way that Cabanas lasted only a year. Three or four is more like it. Possibly longer. What do you think Lou?
-
I think they were out for a few years.
-
That's what i thought,
-
I was hiding my stash of double deckers in the car and they melted over the weekend. Luckily they were rescued by refrigerating and i'm sure they tasted better for it. I think raisins would have ruined the whole experience.
-
If you think that you have misunderstood what a Double Decker experience is.
-
Sorry but trying to remember when DD had Raisins in them? It wasn't a limited edition was it?
-
No. DD started out with raisins then were dropped after a few years.
-
dropped raisins? sweep them up.
-
I remember them with raisins in, I prefer them without!
-
Class. There is a lack of class among some members on here!
-
I would like to try a DD with raisins.
-
OooooooooH! You've got class!
-
Yeah i is a classy bird.
-
Did you say GASSY?
-
She is after a night out.
-
Upstairs on a double decker?
-
I had a Double Decker today.
I thought it quite unexceptional.
*sigh* Raisins....
-
What do you expect from Cadbury's?
-
Faeces-free chocolate!
-
Did you say GASSY?

-
Thats not very lady like lou.

double deckers are the forgotten chocolate. Me and my mate went on a mission to get them popular again by eating at least 2 or 3 every day whilst we were in the first year at college 2001. Then out of nowhere there was an advert for double decker, I'd never seen one before or since, and we felt like our money increased their revenue and they got more popular. The end!
-
I think that nowadays, companies like Cadbury think that sponsorship of programmes is miore lucrative than actually making adverts.
-
It's probably true. If there's a new bar out, like the Creme Egg bar, you get advertising, but otherwise you're telling people about products they already know.
-
Not necessarily. When Kelloggs started advertising Corn Flakes ("Have you forgotten how good they taste" or whatever it was) it was extremely successful and I think most people were already aware they existed.
-
But that was a good 15 years ago. Oldspice said 'nowadays'. Do try and keep up GC.
-

-
I know the Raisins have gone but either i've seriously damaged my brain
through drink and other naughty things,or Double Deckers were completely
different when I was a kid to what they are now.
There wasn't as much of that nougaty milky way stuff and also,if I'm not
mistaken, the cereal was cornflake based and not Rice Krispies.Am I
correct,or totally insane?
-
I don't think they were cornflakes but I may be wrong and you may not be insane

-
Thanks for confirming my sanity Jamsi..............I'm sure they didn't originally
have rice krispies tho.....maybe someone else can recall
