OK, leading on from 'worst film' how about favourite, as opposed to best. I expect we've done this before but never mind. I confess my favourite film is probably Star Wars (the original, AKA 'A New Hope').
-
I like the 4th Pink panther fiml!
-
Star Wars is a superb film.
Jaws has to be up there too.
However my favourite film is 12 Angry men. The Henry Fonda version.
-
12 Angry men? Never heard of it. I think Pulp Fiction was good, but maybe it's because I fancy Uma Thurman.
-
I'm Really sad but it has to b ET for me!
-
I have several - Goodbye Mr Chips (the original with Greer Garson and Robert Donat), Chariots of Fire, This Happy Breed and strangely - One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.
-
People will laugh, but I have to say The Sound of Music. If you don't get a bit choked up when the nuns disable the Nazi's car you must be clinically dead.
Another film I love is Same Time Next Year. It's about a two people who have a one-night stand at a hotel, can't face leaving their partners so decide to meet up for just one weekend a year. Slow moving, but very well-written (got the Best screenplay Oscar) and moving.
-
Smufy - I love Same Time Next Year too! i saw it years ago when it first came out and was so glad when it won an award. Another film I love from that era is Next Stop Greenwich Village which was adapted from a play. It has a wonderful Neil Simon quality to it. Some of Woody Allen's films from that era are brilliant too, especially Play It Again Sam.
-
one flew over the cuckoo's nest is a great film!!
But in my fav's are the fast and furious films, annie, bugsy malone, save the last dance and honey...
oh, and of mice and men!!
-
The Elephant Man.
-
have you seen sing a long sound of music its ace
-
I love all the gangster type films such as Goodfellas, scarface etc.. also love finding Nemo
But my fav is The Business, oh and Saw!
-
texas chainsaw (original), the evil dead, mad max 2, jaws, midnight cowboy, the great escape, the big lebowski, a clockwork orange... could go on for a long time here!
-
Seeing mention of Annie reminded me - Oliver! is another of my favourite films of all time.
-
Love Actually, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo
-
Love Actually, Monsters Inc and Finding Nemo
Aw, you big softie!
-
I know! I still have a little tear in my eye when its the mums funeral in Love Actually. Even though I have seen it about 50 times!
-
Love Actually was tripe in my opinion. It's like Richard Curtis started on a high with Four Weddings, dipped a little with Notting Hill and then took a huge dive!
-
"Private Benjamin" and "Some Kind of Wonderful" are favourites of mine.
-
"Some Kind Of Wonderful" is an excellent film.
I do like some musicals but "Sound of music" is not one of them.
"The Princess Bride" is one of my favourites
-
And Notting Hill.
I know they are not groundbreaking films but they are films which make me happy
-
Benny and Joon is another good one.
-
Toy Story was the greatest ever children's film in my opinion and the best thing is that the adults love it too! It's got something for everyone.
-
I like that film too

-

Shrek /2
The little guy above is soooooooo cool. What attitude "eat me!"
-
Shrek and Shrek 2 need to go on my list!
The like Puss in Boots
-
I have never seen either of the Shreks, do they have happy endings? I hate films with sad or naff endings. And most importantly, does everything end well for the gingerbreadman in the earler post?
-
Each film ends with a happy ending.
-
"Some Kind Of Wonderful" is an excellent film.
I do like some musicals but "Sound of music" is not one of them.
"The Princess Bride" is one of my favourites
You beat me to it Lemoneye.... I love " The Princess Bride" one of my favs.
I also love "Jean De Florette" and the follow up "Manon Des Sources". Usually sub titled films drive me bonkers... trying to read and follow the plot, but these are great stories and beautifully shot.
-
Each film ends with a happy ending.
But what about the gingerbread man?
-
Ermm
-
He has a useful life...
