Another question for you all..You go to the chip shop and want fish and chips. What do you ask for? I remember when I was very young my Grandad would ask for a paper (fish and chips). In the north we used to say a fish lot.lol
in scotland we have supers : fish supper pleaze , Haggies supper, or chip steak suppewr
also in scotland there a very strange pheomanen:
in teh East: you salt and sauce!
in the West: you get salt vinger (you have to pay for sauce! )

I once went to Grantown-on-Spey (27th March, 1989)* and asked for white pudding, chips and peas.
The chip shop owner looked at me rather angrily and said, and I quote,
"Och there's nae call for peas rooond here!!!"
I just had white pudding, chips and red sauce but it wasn't the same.
