The BBC are doing a vote on your favourite public information films. Certainly brought back lots of memories for me:
I know what you mean, I was the same with the frisbee one!
remember
www.tv-ark.org.uk has some on ther sdvert page
There is a DVD called Charley Says and it is full of these films.
There were 2 which scared me but I never see it on any such compilation:
1. Mum is ironing and the little girl is playing with a doll on the floor. Mum goes away for some reason (the phone, doorbell etc) and the girl pulls the cord on the iron. The iron falls on the dolls face and there is a scary close-up of the melted doll face.
2. Kid puts a tin of something in the oven and it blows up the kitchen.
i remember the 1st one.
HOW BOUT THIS ONE - 2 fairly older lads are at a riverside and see a white dummy floating in the weater. one of them jumps in to retrieve it, and when he grabs the dummy... it comes to life and drags him under! eek! i came across it on an old tape and it sends shivers through me even today!
THE MORAL - dont try to save a drowning person if you dont know how to swim properly.
Scary!
I remember a similar one but the lad who jumped in had been drinking.
Remember the one where the two kids are playing on the railway track? 'Adam! Adam! ADDDAAAAAM!!!!!'
I don't remember any train related ones at all!
one of my faves was the old people catching fire in the 'clothing fires' one bbc used to show. watching a granny burn on primetime tv always seemed a little surreal to me.
Breast stroke, back stroke, butterfly and crawl, doggy-paddle, belly-flop, you can do them all ... LEARN TO SWIM
That's what's going round my head!
when i was 6, the green cross code man (darth vader himself) came to my school. it was flippin' brilliant! i got his autograph and everything.
got embarrassing halfway through when some kid asked him if he was really Luke's dad...
looking back, theres these public information things telling kids not to talk to strangers... but theyre saying its perfectly okay to speak to this guy...
Didn't Alvin Stardust do a film about crossing the road? I wouldn't talk to him neither!
Anyone remember the Tufty Club? Road safety squirrel.
Yes, the weasel kept getting knocked down but Tufty the squirrel had his mum there to protect him.
Anyone remember the Tufty Club? Road safety squirrel.
I'm very embarrassed to admit this but......I still have my badge!
