Greetings from the Eternal City!!!
I'm here in Rome for "research" for a couple of weeks, and after a few fun-filled days of taking in the sights I've turned my attention to the more fundamental things in life; chocolate.
I haven't tried the Magnum chocolate yet, but the Italians appear to love it. Anyone hear of/tried Magnum chocolate cars?
Ah, just found this,

I was in Rome in July. The chocolate ice cream with cream was nice.
Ask for 'Gelato chiocolatto con panna'
Thanks for the tip!
I'll keep you updated. Lot's of Milka and Carte D'Or so I'm doing just fine....
...one thing I can say, they like nuts in their chocolate. The more the better, evidently!
Europe is VERY nut orientated.
How do the allergy sufferers cope there!?
I don't know. Maybe .... they don't eat chocolate at all
No, unthinkable.
There probably is someone out there who doesn't like chocolate, but it is hard to image. When you think about it chocolate is featured in a lot of products.
Milka is heaven.
I know somebody who, although he says he quite likes chocolate, buys about one bar a year to keep in the fridge and has a single square every few weeks because he forgets it's there! Unbelievable!
I know what you mean. I take chocolate to my boyfriends house and when I go back a few days later its still there. He says he forgot to eat. How on earth can you forget! But there are other times when I go back and it is all gone!
Finally got to try one of the Magnum chocolate bars today...
and I have to say, quite surprisingly, that it was one of the most gorgeous things I've ever tasted!!!!!!!
It was utterly delicious! I went back and stocked up with about a dozen more. I really hope they become available out side of Italy soon, otherwise I'll have to buy another suitcase just for the Magnum bars!
There are a few variations - I tried the caramel truffle one today. Just heaven......I think....I even prefer it to my Ripple....
It was that good.
It is a wonderful city!! There's a chance I might be able to stay here for six months next year, and I think I'd really like to do it. Just stocked up on more Magnum bars too!
Bit of a shame about the Italian chaps though (so far at least!). To say they're confident and very persistent is putting it politely!
Perugina sounds like a naughty bit!

I'd love to be able to understand these people. Whenever I'd buy my flatmate chocolate, she'd have it sitting at her desk for weeks, and just nibble one square every few days while she was working. But it'd be there, at her desk, every day while she worked...she could see it......and she didn't have any uncontrollable desire just to scoff the lot!
HOW DO THEY DO IT?!
I am ok if it is wrapped and in the cupboard. But wrapped sitting in front of me is risky...but unwrapped...I just can't leave it alone!
Wish I was there chocoholic, my sad hobby is collecting wrappers...my grandad started me off doing it and I have just sorta continued!
I wish I had known that yesterday Chocolate Chick, there was someone selling some on EBay yesterday from the 70s! Sorry...
Have you got any really rare ones?
Erm I have got the crunchie limited edition set that came out late 90's, the limited edition orange time out one, mint drifter, double choc caramel, mint caramel, star wars episode one bar, aztec 2000, cadbury's fruit and nut when it was cadbury's.
It's a shame cos I stopped collecting for a little while and in that time cadbury's went to cadbury and wispa disappeared!
Just tried another of the 'Milka' variations. They have compact little 100g bars called 'M-Joy', with all different flavours. I tried the 'Caramel Crunch'....
I'm stocking up!
