No. he was one huge, huge blob, laying on his front with a head popping out of his body. he couldn't even wipe his own bum. They stapled his stomach and when he was down to 44 stone he told the cameraman "I haven't been this thin for ten years"

I think he started out as a plump child and it just went from there. He's a compulsive eater. Even on a diet, his idea of a snack is a family bucket of KFC. His wife seemed to encourage it. he was only 30 stone when he married her.
