Post by: smurfboy on February 06, 2006, 12:32:54 am

How do you like them cooked? Boiled, mashed, roasted? Does anyone have any nice turnip recipes?

I never mash parsnip. It is too nice simply roasted.

I like it roasted too. Roasted squash takes some beating though.

I liked the story 'The Enormous Turnip' when I was little.

I haven't tried turnips yet.

I loved that story. From the Ladybird 'Well Loved Tales' range - it was always a treat getting one of those. Do you remember 'The Magic Porridge Pot'?

I also loved the Little Red Hen, she was very 'girl power' for her time.

I had a couple of Topsy And Tim books I used to read to my boys when they were little. Used to love doing the voices...  very posh upper class kids, very Enid Blyton!

I seem to remember lots of mentions of Baldrick's turnip obsession.
