Our newagents were called NSS. I liked Spangles but never heard of blobs.

Pacers were great and in the distant past they were related to Opal Fruits and called Opal Mints! Iloved them. I also loved the Old English Spangles.

Blobs were round and hard just like boiled sweets and you got them in cherry flavours and apple flavour in a packet just like spangles but pacers were ace pity that they discontinued all the best sweets ...

The only blob I know is the one that keeps standing in my mirror!

Talking of mirrors, when I was small, we had to turn our mirrors to the wall or cover them on Good Friday or when someone we knew died (to avoid being tempted by vanity). We did the same during a thunderstorm but i don't know why. Did anyone else follow these strange rituals?

Erm.....no!  Interesting though, wonder why it was?  I do tend to avoid mirrors now though.

Don't think my parents were keen on mirrors, I think they may have been afraid to reveal they had no reflective image...

HA HA HA HA  (laughs in the style of Vincent Price!)

Are you Jewish Oldspice? I thought that was a Jewish custom, but I could be wrong.

No I am not Jewish but my father went to a Jewish school and lived among Jewish folk when he was small. Also, the street in which I grew up was close to a synagogue and we had many Jewish neighbours. I once had a Jewish boyfriend as well so I might as well be Jewish. I love Motzas, chicken and barley soup with dumplings and bagels with cream chese and smoked salmon but I hate rollmop herrings!
