Do you eat the potato skin as i believe that's where the goodness is. Discuss
-
Yes i do lou, like them really crispy.
-
Me too but only at home. Would you eat the skin if you had a jacket potato in a restaurant cos I wouldn't.
-
why?
-
I'm a bit worried how they washed the potato.
-
good point , not something i eat out much...
-
I only like roasted pototaos ¬!
-
Lou, don't worry, restaurants buy their potatoes ready washed. Yes, I do eat the skin and it's fantastic. However, potatoes are not nearly as nice as they used to be.
-
I like to eat the skin. It is perfect when its nice and crispy from the oven. You don't seem to get the cripsy skin when its cooked in the microwave.
-
I love the hot potato van in Bilston - cheese and beans is my fave
and I do always eat the skin. I also love the veg chilli potatoes from the New York Deli Co. in Brum - they're expensive and you have to wait ages, but I have a major crush on someone who works there so I don't mind
-
My work has special ovens solely for baking potatoes; the baked potatoes here are gorgeous. I am not such a fan of microwaved potatoes; I eat the skin but it is not so tasty.
-
I like Dairylea in my jacket potatoes
-
I like Dairylea on toast with Marmite. For potato filling I like cottage cheese and onion mmmmmmmm
-
Who likes sour cream?

I like Sour Cream.
Cheese and marmite toasted sandwiches are very nice
-
Cheese and marmite toasted sandwiches are very nice
Sounds nice, I'll try that.
-
They have them in Starbucks but you can easily create them at home.
-
I could make it at home in ten minutes! All I need is some cheese, marmite - and a smaaalll aubergine...
-
Why an aubergine?
-
Oh, you haven't seen 'Goodness Gracious Me' then...
-
"I could make it at home for nothing!"
-

No
-
There is an old Asian woman who is normally watching a top chef prepare something amazing, who announces she could 'make it at home in ten minutes!' Throughout the series she claims to be able to make increasingly bizarre things, but it always involves a smaaaalll aubergine.
-
I get it now. Thank you

-
I like mine with coronation chicken.. yum..

-
Totally fattening but they are lovely when you scoop out all the potato, mix with cheese, put it back in the skin and then cook until golden brown mmmmm
-
When you're dieting, cut the amount of butter you have in half and use garlic salt instead of regular - yum.
-
I might try some garlic salt in future. Is it like normal salt, therefore only 6g?
-
Not entirely sure...
-

That's how I do mine.
-
They are gorgeous aren't they? Go great with loads of onion rings
-
I am having a Pavlovian response to this topic
-
mmm, pavlova...
-
The ballet dancer or the dessert?
-

-
has to be a desert!
-
does any one hav e it with jam ??
-
If you cook your potatoes in the microwave, you kust have to finish them off in a very hot oven to crisp tthe skins.
-
Thanks for the tip oldspice, I do that next time.
-
Oldspice, I did that last night and it worked beautifully.
-
yay
-
Is it just my local hot potato man, or does everyone get enough butter to cause a coronary when they go to the hot spud shop? Even when I ask for just a bit of butter I get half a packet.
-
My work is like that Smurfy so I never take mine with butter.
-
I never have mine with butter. A little bit of philly or dairylea is all it takes.
-
I love low fat Philadelphia on a cinnamon and raisin bagel with salad
-
I am having Quorn pepper strongonoff (sp?) tonight smurfy!
-
Is Quorn easy to cook with Choccy? I've only tried it in ready prepared things.
-
I find it easy to cook with. I use the chunks and the mince in all sorts of different dishes.
-
Yes its easy to cook with. It doesnt need preparing like other meats. Its good to go!
-
Quorn are sausgess! aren't there?
62305838749.4779861111
-
Yes Quorn do sausages ... but I am not a fan!
-
I also thourgh there did readly meals?
-
Yes they do ready made foods but it's not a whole meal. There are things like lasagne, cottage pie, escallopes...
-
Burgers, sausages, fillets, mince.
-
I am a vegetarian
-
Quorn is veggie isn't it?
-
Yes Quorn is veggie. It's also banned in USA because some people are allergic
-
Really? I am glad i'm not allergic, its the only sausages I trust.
-
Yes it is banned in USA due to some allergies. I'm sure more people are allergic to peanuts but I don't see anyone banning them!!!
-
Very good point!
-
I eat Quorn all the time , never heard of anyone having problems with it
-
Two hours after posting this message, Homer collapsed and was carried away groaning 'it's the Quorn, it's the Quorn...'
-
Is it pronounced 'corn' ?
-
No, it's quorn with a qwa and not corn with a ker.
-
ok thankyou.
-
There was some controversy about quorn quite recently but I can't remember what it was all about. I used to eat a lot of it when my son was a veggie. Do they still do Linda McCartney meals? I used to like the lasagne.
-
They do indeed. Well, obviously she doesn't make them personally, but someone does.
-
I would hope not - they'd be a bit old by now.
-
I don't like veggie dishes that pretend to be meat (veggie burgers and sausages). I'd rather just have cauliflower cheese.
-
anyone for a nut cutlet?
-
I don't like veggie dishes that pretend to be meat (veggie burgers and sausages). I'd rather just have cauliflower cheese.
I agree. Veg should taste like veg. Proper veggie burgers like Birdseye Vegetable Quarter Pounders are yum - the soya ones are sh*te.
-
My mum pronounces it corm...like korma but without the a. Bless her.
-
-
Fruit salad anyone?
-
Mmm, fruit salad
-
Melon
-
-
Mango, raspberry, apple juice and cranberry makes a good smoothy.
-
Mmmm
-
I'm going to try cream fraiche this weekend; apparently that's good with fruit salad.
-
It sure is Cherry. Also a good cream substitute
-
Water melon is wonderful.
-
yes it is!
-
Great in the summer and very low in cals etc
