Title: Coco Cola
Post by: oldspice on January 24, 2006, 07:13:59 am
The Coco Cola company is bringing out a new flavour in Feb. I din't know what it is because they would'nt tell me but they were giving away mini cans in town at the weekend and gave me a leaflet.

I remember 1985 well, a lot of excellent music was released that year. I don't remember anything coke-related though.

On snackspot someone has found Diet Coke with Cherry. Could that be it?

Have we not already had diet coke with cherry

It's been out years and years surely?

Title: Coco Cola
Post by: Cherry_Ripe on January 24, 2006, 12:17:12 pm
I've never seen it. I have had diet cherry coke from Cybercandy but I think that's American.

Post by: kevvosa on January 24, 2006, 01:18:01 pm
Diet coke with cherry is new. It's cherry coke (original version with
sugar) that has been out for years. I have got 2 bottles of diet coke
with cherry in the fridge at the moment, cooling down.

I have also seen the cappuccino flavour Pepsi bottles in Morrisons but havent bought any yet.

You are correct Cherry - we've never had the diet version here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the Coke with Raspberry recently trialled in Australasia

1985 - Coca Cola launch 'new taste' Coke in America to take on Pepsi after focus groups all say the new version is fantastic. It bombs, Coca Cola lose millions, and within weeks Coca Cola Classic is launched. New Coke dies a quiet death.

I have been wanting a diet cherry version for ages!
Title: Coco Cola
Post by: oldspice on January 24, 2006, 05:55:07 pm
Yes but how can they call it a new flavour? It will surely taste very much like Cherry Coke? It is a welcome addition for people wanting a low calorie/low sugar cherry coke taste but it's not a new flavour! I'd like a raspberry or mint flavour I think.

I will also be on the look out for that (as well as the lemon and lime jaffa cakes) Do we know if the new cherry coke is limited edition or here to stay?

I am going to look in Boots at lunchtime.

Diet cherry coke (or diet wild cherry pepsi) was always something I missed from the US while I've been here, so I was glad to see it in Woolies today. Yum.
Title: Coco Cola
Post by: oldspice on January 25, 2006, 08:02:19 pm
i can't understand why they don't automatically launch a diet flavour along with the regular type. For example, why didn't they release Diet Cherry Cola when they relased regular Cherry Cola???
Title: Coco Cola
Post by: smurfboy on January 25, 2006, 08:20:28 pm
You certainly wouldn't think it would take 20 years!
Title: Coco Cola
Post by: kevvosa on January 25, 2006, 08:32:01 pm
Because diet drinks werent as popular when they orignally released cherry coke, hence they wouldnt have made much profit.

Apparently low calorie drinks are the biggest seller now.

Title: Coco Cola
Post by: smurfboy on January 25, 2006, 08:35:13 pm
Good point actually - that could be why the Lemon and Lime version were only launched as diet...
Title: Coco Cola
Post by: chocolate chick on January 26, 2006, 12:05:06 pm
I think there should be a diet version of all the drinks as well.

Has anyone had Fanta Z. I don't think I like it.

Title: Coco Cola
Post by: Cherry_Ripe on January 26, 2006, 12:07:12 pm
No I haven't tried Fanta Z yet but I love the advert for it, when everyone spat out the diet Fanta ... at least Fanta knew how bad it tasted and did something about it!

True!

I love Fanta Berry Burst but it's high in calories.

Have you found Diet Cherry yet?

No as I haven't looked yet  I went to the corner shop instead of the supermarket. I will definitely look this weekend!

Does anyone else miss the REAL OLD taste of Tizer? I mean the real old-fashioned version? Can you still buy Tizer?

I can remember it being more popular than cola years back.

Title: Coco Cola
Post by: smurfboy on January 26, 2006, 05:18:36 pm

They made Tizer too sweet. I think you can still get it though.

Tizer vs Irn Bru - discuss.

Title: Coco Cola
Post by: oldspice on January 26, 2006, 07:42:26 pm
They are quite different I think. I know they changed the recipe for Tizer many years ago and yes, they made it sweeter. I have not tasted Tizer for many years but I like Irn Bru so I would vote for that.

You can still get Tab cola in the US but not the clear version. I have memories of Tab Clear always being on special offer at the supermarket so my mum used to buy loads of it ...

I have been looking at all the newsagents but no sign here yet. I read the snackspot reviews and apparently it doesn't taste like the US version ... more like black forest gateau! I definitely want to try it.

We didn't have Irn Bru down south in the 60s. we didn't have Dandelion and Burdock either. These were northern drinks. I remember Tizer being big, and we had Carona Lemonade, Limeade, Orangeade and Cherryade. There was also R Whites Lemonade and Cream Soda. Sometimes you'd get a harmless lemonade shandy drink and I remember Top Deck Lime with Larger Flavour.

I don't think Cola passed my lips until I was about 11.

Post by: Cherry_Ripe on February 02, 2006, 03:42:11 pm

Erm yes, on balance yes I recommend (I had to think about it)

I don't think it tastes of Cherry Coke nor does it taste like American Diet Cherry Coke. It's a cherry drink with a hint of Coke. I don't get the bad aftertaste that some people mentioned. So overall

It says on the bottle 'new edition' so I don't think it is limited. Should be easy to find by now if it has made its way as far as me
