Title: X FACTOR
Post by: loulou on November 20, 2005, 03:41:06 pm
This is a joke. Nicholas and the Conways in the final two and Sharon votes off Nicholas purely to upset Louis and not upset Simon.

Sop where is Andy? Still in? And what about Chico?

I want Andy to win.

Andy is still in and doing well. Chico sang his own song last night, ridiculous. He needs to go. My faves are Andy and Shane.

Actually i thought Chico was superb - usually i think he is a bit of a joke, but on SAturday i thought he was brilliant. Journey South are excellent too. Nicholas was the worst he has been to date, and needed to go (in my opinion)

I think Nicholas was awful but the conways have been in the bottom two for 4 weeks now so surely they shoule be going.

There's no one I really want to win this year. I was totally behind Rowetta last year, but I'm not fussed this time.

Rowetta? She was limited in my opinion, and not really that good. G4 were clearly the best by a country mile last year... Steve Brookstein - how did he win? Ugly AND rubbish?

i agree, she has seen louis getting more disliked and simon get more popular and she wants to be seen to be friends with him now instead, like wanting to be friends with the class "popular kid"

I would like to see an Andy and Journey South final.

Andy was fantastic this week - Me and Mrs Jones is a real old favourite of mine. It takes me back to the church disco. We always had a slow number to finish and it was often this song. Simon Long often asked me to dance. We used to call slow dancing smooching. Mmmmmmm. Where are you now Simon?

Well, I'm harking back to 1972 and I think Simon Cowell was a little babe then! Simon Long would be about 49 or 50 now.

I read that in the paper, they think its just a stunt and that he will be there again on Saturday night.

They replayed the bit where Sharon threw the water over him.

if u watch the replays its simon that shoves sharons hand to throw first glass. im sure its all publicity.......strictly come dancing is doing too well, and they just want some "will he" "wont he" appear hype

Is it just me or does X factor seem to be more about the judges than any of the acts? I'm not convinced that there should be competetion between the judges.

I may not be a fan of some of the acts but I do respect that they are trying to live out their dream and make the most of a golden opportunity, it's gotta take a fair amount of courage to get as far as they have.

Then you have the judges making what sometimes amount to cruel personal remarks on the strength of point scoring against one another. Have they forgotten it's supposed to be a talent show?

Bring back Hughie Green!!! OK maybe I wouldn't go that far!

Title: X FACTOR
Post by: loulou on November 26, 2005, 10:20:45 am
It's a ridiculous show and the best singer cannot win because as you say the judges have made it a competition within themselves. I see in the paper Louis walked out but came back when Simon begged him. It's all publicity.
Title: X FACTOR
Post by: smurfboy on November 26, 2005, 07:16:09 pm

Exactly Lou. I bet Louis never had any intention of leaving.

I'm just watching it now an if the Conways are still here next week, something's gone very wrong.

Simon voted his own group off. I think he did it deliberately so Louis would not be in the position of voting.

They are more like Bewitched than The Corrs! And the problem with them all being sisters is that they couldn't tell them to ditch the fat one.

Chico will go this Saturday
Title: X FACTOR
Post by: oldspice on December 07, 2005, 07:20:13 pm

Chico has gone!

The silly thing is, I thought that he was quite good this week!

I want either Andy or Journey South to win. I think it's more likely to be Brenda though. It's hard to choose between them now. They're all good. I think Shayne will go this weekend

Journey South were FANTASTIC this week! They are always good but they were really superb.

I am shocked Brenda has gone. I think she really deserved to win the contest. if I am honest, although I like him, Andy has been weak this last two weeks and I thought he would go. Brenda deserved to stay more than Andy.

Now I want Journey South to win.

Title: X FACTOR
Post by: loulou on December 11, 2005, 07:54:50 pm

I wanted Andy to win from the start but I am finding him a little boring the last few weeks and I thought he would have went last night. I would love to have seen Brenda win.

I read in the paper that simon cowell has already gave Journey south a recording contract. surely this can't be true.

I'm with Oldspice on this one - Journey South are superb and i would love them to win. Again surprised Brenda went and not Andy... Not a fan of Shayne at all...
Title: X FACTOR
Post by: Cherry_Ripe on December 12, 2005, 11:16:48 am

I agree about Andy, I thought his songs were a bit weak the last 2 weeks. I don't think he is very versatile as a singer.

I have been voting for Journey South from the start and will continue to do so. I thought Shayne did much better this week - I haven't liked him much in the past.

Like you I honestly thought Andy would go, not Brenda.

Title: X FACTOR
Post by: smurfboy on December 12, 2005, 02:09:30 pm
I'm sad Brenda went. The problem is the majority of the voters are women, who don't tend to vote for other women. Hence Rowetta came fourth last year and Steve 'Housewife's choice' Brookstein won. Young girls are voting for Shayne (pretentious spelling or what?) and more mature women are voting for Andy.
Title: X FACTOR
Post by: lemoneye on December 12, 2005, 02:58:27 pm
That is the problem with X Factor - public often votes for "best looking" etc so the better singers dip out - not that either steve brookstein or rowetta could possibly be considered good looking!

When I dyed my hair dark last Christmas I looked disturbingly like Rowetta!

Shayne was quite good last night. He's got a very good voice - very pure - but Andy was better I thought.

It was very hard to choose between the three of them last night but overall, I would not have chosen Shayne as the out-and-out winner

Title: X FACTOR
Post by: smurfboy on December 18, 2005, 03:19:51 pm

My friend calls Shayne Gareth Williams-Young, because he reckons he's just a mish-mash of Gareth Gates, Will Young and Robbie Williams - no originality.

I know Simon said he was 'gutted' for Journey South, but this was the best result for him. He needs an act that will sell and Shayne will.

Title: X FACTOR
Post by: oldspice on December 18, 2005, 04:38:23 pm

I think that sums it all up. He will sell.

What did you all think of the cant't-sing-will-sing gang murdering My Way?  Was it funny or sad? Was it harmless fun or a crule freak show? I can't make up my mind.

Does anyone remember an act called Tiny Tim in the 60s? He was a strange, long-haired, banjo-playing chap who sang Tiptoe through the tulips in a freaky, high-pitched voice and it was a HUGE hit. the mind boggles really.

There are some songs and I just can't understand how they ever did well.

Christmas songs are a case in point.  The Mel and Kim one is cringingly embarrasing.  Who bought that?

That guy out of the Pogues and Kirstie Macoll (God bless her soul) is also irritating because the Irish man can't sing for toffee and sounds like Bob Geldoff on a bad day.

I think Stay Another Day by Heaven 17 is a good one as is George Michael's Careless Whisper.  Both bring back memories.
