Title: Milkshake recipes?
Post by: kevvosa on September 27, 2005, 02:27:30 pm
Anyone have any nice milkshake recipes? I remember someone mentioned
one where you put your favourite chocolate bar in a blender but I
forget the quantities etc.

I don't think there are any specific quantities - just chuck it in and blend!

No specific quantities. I would say about 4 scoops of ice cream, a
touch of milk, your favourite bar or pieces of fruit and blend away.
It's a case of trial and error.

There is a bar I sometimes go to in Birmingham that has a Cookies and Cream cocktail. It contains a chocolate liquer, but the main base is ice cream.

I had tried recreating it at home, and wasn't quite the same. It lacked the ice texture. Then the girlfriend had a brainwave... add ice cubes in a blender. It gives it that missing texture!

So if you want that McDonalds thick shake texture, add some drinking chocolate (the stuff with sugar in the ingredients list, not to be confused with cocoa powder which needs sugar adding) to some milk and vanilla ice-cream, put in about 3 - 5 ice cubes and blend. Quantities are usually 3 heaped teaspoons of drinking chocolate powder, then about one part milk to two parts ice-cream for a tall glass full.

And to try and recreate the Cookies and Cream recipe (from the Living Room on Broad Street in Birmingham city centre) then use vanilla ice-cream, ice cubes, milk with a shot of Baileys, a shot of Creme de cacoa and fill up with cream (I think they use the squirty cream) and whallop a Bourbon biscuit in it. Drink with straw. Mmmmm... delicious!

I don't like milk shakes so I think I'll just stick with the bourbon biccies and the Baileys.

Who's up for a night at the Living Room then? First responsee can have my spare bed for the night - I only live ten minutes walk away!

I love quite runny but frothy milkshakes. here are some of my favourites:

Chocolate Cherry

Two scoops of good chocolate ice cream, half a pint of milk, two measures of Whittards chocolate/cherry milkshake mix.

Blend for two minutes, rest for 3o secs, blend for tow more minutes then pour into a tall, thin glass.

Lucious Lime

Two scoops of good vanilla ice cream, half a pint of milk and a decent measure of Crusha lime milkshake mix. Blend for three minutes and pour over ice cubes.

Baileys Dream

One scoop of good chocolate ice cream, a large measure of Baileys and half a pint of milk. Blend well and pur over ice cubes

Ben & Jerrys Cherry Shake-Up

Three good scoops of  B&Js Cherry Garcia blended with just over half a pint of milk for a few minutes.

ENJOY!

Baileys is not very nice at all.  Full of chemicals.

Use Vermeer Dutch Chocolate Cream Liqueur instead.

I much prefer Baileys. I hate Vermeer.

It's better than drinking sh*te.

It is not.  You plainly have very poor taste.  I bet you drink Baileys.

I'm not the one drinking cheap crap like Vermeer.

Post by: phyllisbermann on July 27, 2006, 01:59:51 pm
It is not cheap.  It's more expensive than the Baileys rubbish.

I don't drink Baileys. And Vermeer is only fit for the toilet pan.

Bicerin is more expensive than Baileys and I wouldn't drink that sh*te either.

I have tried Vermeer and I don't like it. And you know very well I have tried Quinns as I told you I like it. Do try and keep up.

I will.

Have you tried the Vermeer yet?  Instead of being rude about it, do try it.  It really is good.

I'm also liking Pimms right now and also rose.

Quinns is naturally fermented fruit juice and the raspberry and blueberrry one tastes like bliss in a bottle.
