Title: Chocsticks(?)
Post by: goldencup on September 11, 2005, 08:19:59 pm
While browsing Hello Sweetie's excellent website I suddenly remembered these.  They were hard, sort of butterscotch sticks like a drinking straw but thicker, with a solid chocolate filling.  I seem to remember a yellow cellophane wrapper.  I think they were called Chocsticks or Chocstix.  Oldspice?

Yes, they were quite long too were they not? With twisty shape? Quite nice as I remember. Talking of these also made me think of raspberry canes - long, smooth and red with a lovely raspberry flavour.

Loulou I was just browsing but I may order soon.  Yes Oldspice, they were twisty - I'd forgotten that.  They used to last quite a while and were always a treat after we'd been to the swimming baths for some reason.  I remember the raspberry canes too - and 'fireman's hoses'.

Yes! Fireman's hoses! And I loved real red liquorice - aniseed flavour rather than that horrible strawberry falvoured stuff. And what about liquorice pipes?

And do you remember those posh boxes filled with chocolate cigars, cigarettes and matches? They were mostly given to boys whereas girls usually got chocolate kittens or bunnies - at least in my house we did. I really hankered after those chocolate cigars though!

Quite agree about the liquorice - it used to taste totally different.  For some reason my friends and I used to amuse ourselves on the way home from the swimming baths by standing on a railway bridge and dropping tiny pieces of fireman's hose on the trains as they went underneath!  We thought we were very daring....

Yes but a fireman's hose, being longer, can reach parts other objects cannot reach. Much more useful when you body is on fire.

I agree. I used to go out with a fireman. He
demonstrated his excellent hose control to me many
times.

PS, I'm glad you like the site, Goldencup. I've been
out shopping for the past few days and I'm in the
process of putting quite a few more sweets on the
site, I should have them all on by tomorrow
afternoon.
