getting old FAST? its been around over a bloody decade... not entirely sure i get the 'speed' thing. as for downhill - well, maybe its not at its total prime anymore, but its still worthy of attention moreso than anything else out there. MY POINT: no other tv show has been lept so fresh for so long. look how awful Friends ended up... and how tedious ER is these days... and lets not even mention anything british! LONG LIVE SPRINGFIELD! (and bring back Futurama while youre at it!)

I like the Simpsons

But I have long given up with Eastenders. I prefer Coronation Street,
but the Shelly storyline needs to move on or find a conclusion where
Shelly is very nasty to Charlie!!

First 8 seasons were great, they are embarrasing now, and are about as humourous as Harry Enfield.

I haven't seen the more recent episodes as I don't have Sky, but I have seen a couple of slightly naff newer ones. However, below par Simpsons is better than most other shows when they're at top quality!

Yes, kill of Shelly and Charlie. They are completely boring and she is a simpering numpty. I like Corrie for its humour (Norris, Vera, Jack, Cilla etc) but there are several characters I would axe tomorrow:

Gail (She looks like ET's hampster), Martin (can't act, no depth to his character), David Platt (same as his dad), Kevin (half spanner, half biscuit) both of Sally and Kev's children, Liz MacDonald (what a trollop) and I'm sorry to say this - Ken and Dierdre.

My fav characters are Eileen, Chesney, The gay bloke and Steve MacDonald (oh those eyes!!!!).

Yes, those twins in Corrie definitely have to go! They are terrible! I like Janice though, she's spectacularly common. I love Roy and Hayley (but I wonder why Hayley went through all that pain to become a woman, only to wear such frumpy and unflattering clothes).

Norris adds the comedy factor and I could listen to Eileen all day

Sue Cleaver who plays Eileen is very talented I think. I like most of the current Corrie cast.

I would love to take over Eastenders and wield my axe. Gus the roadsweeper would have to go, with fat Minty not far behind him. I'd also insist Pauline Fowler never begin another sentence with 'when my Arfur was alive...'

I have never watched Emmerdale and I don't like EastEnders. It is miserable and ludicrous. No one works away from the square, no one has a washing machine, too many people are able to buy the pub/club/arches without even having to visit the bank (even though they can't afford a washing machine), people casually hand over cash bags and ask almost strangers to look after their market stalls, no one has to visit a supermarket .... shall I go on?

You can't fault Fawlty Towers. My favourite episode is
"Communication Problems" John Cleese is
hilarious.
I can't stand that stupid, money grabbing, wannabee
model hairdresser on Corrie and what books does
Ken read? He always looks about as interested as if
he's reading the phone book.

I asked som1 the other day about the interceptor, noone remembers it. it was like evil treasure hunt with some silly dude in a chopper chasing people to shoot their backpacks or something. i was only about 9 at the time so may not have the full jist.

And NO the Simpsons should never end, i cant even watch the first 4 series due to its relatively sickly sweetness, 16-17 seasons in & its got dark, trippy, weird, random, all the things i love in a cartoon show. Bring back Ren & Stimpy while we're on the subject of toons.

The Interceptor was:

a) Very similar in concept to Treasure Hunt and b) presented by Annabel Croft, who took over Treasure Hunt from Anneka Rice, which is probably why the two are so easily confused.

The Interceptor was axed because people found it too hard to follow. I remember Anna Soubury saying on Postbag - whatever happened to Anna Soubury?

But best of all, no matter how impoverished you are, even if you've become a whore or a drug dealer to survive, you'll still drink at the Vic EVERY night and buy coffees from the caff instead of walking a few yards and making one at home!

a more accurate description:

late 80's. it was meant to run along side Treasure Hunt. basically, the idea was simple. 2 contestants (who were always thick as hell) would wear matching backpacks: one would contain a grand (ooooo!). one would be empty. they were locked, and their keys were hidden in odd places. the contestants were blindfolded and choppered miles away from each other. then, they were unblinded and let go. they had radio contact with Annabell Croft, who navigated them around (and always seemed to know WAY too much about their whereabouts.) basically, each contestant had to retrieve their partners key from some elaborate game, then meet back up with them before the clock ran out. only then could they try the keys and open the backpacks and retrieve the money.

SIMILARITIES TO Treasure Hunt: lots of choppers, a time-clock to beat, clues to follow/collect, ugly lycra-jumpsuits, begging members of the public for lifts and lots of bad camera-work. easy to confuse!

EASY, HUH? nooooo!

y' see, lurking in the midsts was a terribly camp man, dressed all in black leather and speaking a terrible scotish dialebnt. hwe had choppers, bikes and lots of money at his disposal... and it was his job to (ahem) 'INTERCEPT' the opponents. BUT HOW? on his wrist was a zapper-lazer, and a direct shot from his wrist onto a contestants backpack would LOCK the pack. oh - and he never knew which one had the money in, either.

so there it is - the BEST concept for a gameshow EVER. EVER-EVER. catch it on channel 121, challebnge-tv occasionally. it only lasted 8 episodes before it was cancelled. or check the website here: http://www.interceptors-lair.com/htmldocs/introduction/intro duction.htm

amazing stuff!

They might as well axe the programme now cos it can't be anywhere near as good without Pete. Do you remember when he was in Brookside?
