It's raining here today and has been all night. That's good because it's been really hot for a few days and the garden needs the rain.
What is everyone doing this weekend? Tonight I am going out with a large group of friends from my husband's TGWU office. We are going greyhound racing - a thing I am not actually keen on - but the event includes a meal and a drink so I shall just socialise. My daughter has a part-time job caring for racing greyhounds when they are not racing so she will be there too.
The rest of the weekend will be spent changing beds, dusting bedrooms and preparing lectures for next term. Not a very exciting weekend. Oh, and I shall be trying to avoid eating any chocolate! Not even a new Texan bar if I see one.
Fancy my chances anyone?
-
I have recently been grey hound racing and it makes a good evening out.
It is not something I could do every weekend as I do not understand the
betting side of things very well.
Tonight I have the house to myself so I will make a bowl of pork and
bacon paella and snuggle up in the front room and watch Beethoven's 3rd.
Tomorrow night I will have a quiet evening in with my boyfriend and
watch a film and then on Sunday I will be going to a pub in Blackheath
to watch the Chelsea v Arsenal match. Come on Chelsea!!

I would rescue ex-racing greyhounds if I could be home during the day to care for them, I love greyhounds.
-
I'm going to see Willy Wonker on Saturday. Before that I will take my photos in to be developed from last weekend.
-
The new Urban Outifitters has opened in Brum, so I will have to check that out. I've been invited for a drink on Saturday, but I'm playing hard to get
-
smurfy don't play too hard to get, you might not get the offer again.
-
We're both playing it that way though. I was too keen at first, but as soon as I went quiet, I was getting constant texts again!
-
If you both play hard to get it will take months to get anywhere. Someone has to take the bull by the horns and I think that should be you smurfy. Be assertive and go get what you want. Are you a man or a mouse?
-
I've had a really bad week at work and I know next week will be no better (and probably worse) so I intend to spend as much as possible of the weekend relaxing - on the beach if the weather's fine.
-
Im going to sh*t into my hands and throw it out of the window at someone who walks past.
-
robbie are you in a bad mood?
-
Are you a man or a mouse?
Squeak, pass me some cheese!
Actually we did meet up on Sunday night in the end. Was a very nice night
-
That's good. And the next date is.?
-
At some point over the Bank Holiday weekend as we both have time off work.
-
That's nice.
-
Theres something romantic about bank holiday weekends. Mine will be

-
Yes but August Bank Holidays are a bit pointless coming as they do at then end of many people's holiday period anyway. We need one in October instead.
-
Good call

It's Firday again, the last day of my holiday and it's quite COLD! It's still supposed to be summer! We have had copious amounts of rain this week and yesterday even had hailstones and thunder.
So what am I doing on the last day of my holiday? Shopping, cleaning, ironing and .... I sat down this afternoon and watched a real of weepy movie on TV. It was called Waterloo Bridge and it starred Vivian Leigh (of Gone with the Wind fame) and Rod Taylor. I wept buckets! I also ate another of the Texan Bars I ordered from Hello Sweetie.
The big thing to end my holiday comes this weekend as hubbie is taking me to London to celebrate our Anniversary. We are seeing a play in the afternoon (Death of A Salesman), then having dinner at a posh restaurant, then seeing a show (Saturday Night Fever) then staying in a hotel near Hyde Park for the night.
Good way to end a holiday I think.
-
Sounds like an ideal weekend oldspice. Congratulations for your anniversary and I hope you have a great time.
-
That does sound like a really good weekend, although there was no mention of the after-dinner chocolate!
How many years then Oldspice? I have my 21st anniversary in September. I don't know if that's anything special.
-
another 4 years and it will be your silver anniversary goldencup
-
It's our 20th Anniversay (China) although we have been together for about 25 years.
-
-
Isn't 21st porcelain or enamel or something?
-
definitely something
-
Enamel? The only thing you can do with something enamel is store it under the bed!!
-
We didn't bother with the china either! I've just realised we've been together for almost 28 years (since I was 17) - seriously scary!
-
I see bounty adding it all up on his fingers now to work out your age goldencup.
-
He already knows my age (although it took him a long time to work it out!)
-
He will have forgot (short term memory loss) and he will be adding up again.
-
-
He'll run out of fingers and toes!
-
He will have to use his girlfriends then
-
Maybe he has an abacus.
