Apologies if I'm re-visiting an old topic, I'm a new boy...
Just wondering what everyone thinks is, or was, the onion in the ointment when it comes to choc. On a personal level, I would rather stick a fork in my eye than eat a Bounty
but I know it's one of those love it or hate it products; the Marmite of chocolate, if you will. But can anyone remember a bar launched to universal distaste that died a swift death - or would anyone like to nominate one that should...?
On the same note, never try Cadbury's Tokke, available on the continent. If there was ever a reason not to join Europe, this is it! My mother bought me a 4 pack from Spain and I threw 3 away; for a choc lover like me that's rare...
-
I think it has to be those things called Aids, which were meant to be slimming chocolate, but which became strangely unpopular in about 1982. For those too young, this is not a joke, it really was called Aids. They tasted of soggy cardboard.
-
Just like bourneville taste like cardboard
-
Another one I forgot - Flyte. Mars' attempt at a low fat chocolate bar. Low taste too! Does it still exist?
-
Fuse is pretty revolting and for me anything with praline.
-
Anything with coffee.
-
Here here Loulou! I love coffee but hate anything coffee flavoured.
-
I just remembered - Maverick was pretty disgusting. Should have worked but somehow didn't.
-
boosts with guarana were horrible.
-
Thank goodness there isn't a coffee flavoured Star bar or Snickers.
-
what a terrible thought.
-
Toffee Crisp. Not sure if it ever tasted better than now, but now it tastes awful.
-
I agree, the chocolate is so cheap and horrible now. Used to be nice.
-
Not all chocolate is bad tho
-
No but it used to be better...and the summers were hotter....and it always snowed at Christmas......
-
Em but i wsnt alive
-
I H8 ummmmmmmm bornville euck
-
!
-
Bournville.
-
I had one of these Batman chocolate lollies from next to the til at Homebase last night. I expected it to be dreadful, but it was really nice. It's made by some tiny manufacturer I'd never heard of and can't remember... and now I've thrown the silver wrapping away.
-
Mars Delight is a horrible bar.
-
I probably stand alone on this one, but Crunchie bars.....hate them.
And Bournville.
-
I love Crunchies! They do stick in your teeth though.
-
I love crunchies.
-
Mars Delight is a horrible bar.
how dare you
-
Got to agree with aveit101 - the Mars Delight seems to be much maligned, but I love them.
-
If they did a
delight. WELL! I could possibly warm to it!
-
Yeah
mars delight is kick ass
-
The worst bar is .............. Turkish delight
-
Oh no, that's lovely! I'll give you the Mars Delight and I'll keep the Turkish Delight!
-
...Turkish Delight.
I'm coming to realise I don't like exciting or fancy chocolate tastes.
I like my chocolate simple and rich. Like my men!
-
Turkish Delight is nice but in little doses.
I don't like Aero anymore.
-
I h8 bounty
-
I love crunchies, bountys and turkish delight.
-
-
Had a Bobby's Turkish Delight bar the other day. Not even chocolate, but a chocolate flavoured coating. The TD was quite authentic though, but the 'chocolate' was awful.
-
*quiet whisper* Dime. Don't like 'em.

-
I like Dime bars.
-
I've never had a Dime bar
-
They are very nice but go careful if you get one as they can be dangerous on your teeth.
-
Had Dime when I was very young. Far too hard and not very pleasant.
-
I think the Dime Bar's Brtittlity or is it brittleness? is part of its appeal.
-
I like them.
-
worst choc bar ever = bounty
most boring = crunchie
best = turkish delight
best chocolate of any kind = leonidas or jaffa cakes
what's the point in crunchies? they're just a bit of chocolate with some gold 'stuff' that tastes awful. i forget what the 'stuff' is called, and it's ncie in small doses, but not making up 75% of the bar...
-
It's called Honeycomb. I used to like em but after scoffing far too
many Crunchie Nuggets and feeling sick, I havent touched them since
(apart from a Crunchie McFlurry, but that doesnt count).
-

to this day i have never had a crunchie mcflurry! i just dont see the need, because i hate crunchies anyway, and smarties/dairy milk are so nice
-
I wanted a change from those though. My favourites so far were the Rolo
and Toffee Crisp McFlurry's...a shame they were limited.
Did they ever do a Bounty McFlurry?
-
coconut and ice cream are a good mix.
-
I can't think of one UK choccie bar I really hate...but if you wanna try some minging chocolate, go onto cybercandy and order some U.S 'chocolate' bars.
Hersheys...minging
butterfinger..like fibre glass wrapped in chocolate and the worst ever...a watchimacallit...tasted like chicken and corn
-
Butterfingers are horrible.
-
I don't mind Butterfingers in small doses (as in just a bite or tiny fun-size one), but eating one of those mammoth bars is tedious. That's one bar I don't miss!
-
Soz i havent been on for a while ive been ill
How is every1
-
Crunchies are fantastic. Sorry you've been ill.
-
I like Butterfingers... most delicious - and the way it gets stuck in your teeth... mmm
-
lemoneye do you like butterfingers more than marzipan?
-
Yes Oldspice, I totally agree. I don't tend to buy them that often, but when I do, I wonder why I don't more often!
-
I always have crunchies in the cupboard. I love them with a hot cup of tea.
-
There've been quite a lot of 'six for the price of four' offers on them recently too - I think it was Somerfield.
-
. Sorry you've been ill.
Thanx at least sum1 cares
also i luv areo caramel now
-
I just had a horrible thought!
Coffets. Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh h

-

Not pleasant.
-
Had Lindt Crunchy Caramel the other day...and its to die for. It has a really nice flavour to it. I was very impressed.
As for yuck...had Lindt 85% Cocoa Solids. It was vile. Like eating a spoonful of cocoa powder.
-
I just remembered something worse - 'Marching Chocolate". That really does taste like neat cocoa powder. The last time I saw it was in Norfolk about three years ago but it may have disappeared. I think it's supposed to be the stuff that kept the army going in the 1st or 2nd world wars (towards another sweet shop hopefully!).
