Foreign Products / Irish section at Sainsbury's

I don't know how many branches have this, but if there is a large Irish community where you live it's worth a look, as they sell Cadbury Tiffin, Golden Crisp and Mint Crisp. I've no idea why we don't get those here - I enjoy them all! 95p a bar for a fairly small bar: more expensive than average, but cheaper than somewhere like Cybercandy (and probably easier to get to for most people).

The idea does nothing for me, but I think we have a few coconut fans on here... White choc BTW. Currently £3.37 a box in Sainsbury's instead of £4.50 (that goes for the whole Lindor range).

New Products / Quality Street Fruit Cremes

Yes, should you be so inclined, you can now purchase a box of fruit creme only QS. £3.50 for 450g in Sainsbury's (or £4.50 for 350g, I forget which). Also available in Toffee and Nutty (that's one variety, not two).

New Products / Mint Choc PRINGLES

No, this isn't a joke. Don't check your calendar - it's not April 1st. I'm guessing someone scheduled a product development meeting at P&G for the day after the office party and they were all still pissed - that's the only way I can explain Mint Choc flavour Pringles being a real thing 
I'm assuming it's some kind of bizarre attempt at a Christmas-themed product; a theory supported by the fact that the other new flavour is Sweet Cinnamon (sorry Goldencup!) That one could actually work in a strange way (the kind of sweet and savoury combination that works for chocolate-covered pretzels), but I'm not sure I can bring myself to try Mint Choc - although I am slightly intrigued in a car crash kind of way...

Anyone bothering to watch this year? I'm not entirely sold on the dual audition idea - it's thrown up some interesting auditions when acts have seemed 'pretty good' in a small room but then clearly don't translate to the big stage, but for anyone who's clearly very strong it seems pointless. Judge-wise, I've got to say I'm enjoying the return of Sharon more than I expected to. In retrospect, Tulisa and Nicole were too close in age - Nicole filled the 'cool big sister' role and Tulisa seemed immature by comparison. Sharon is the mum figure the show has been missing. Okay, it's laughable to suggest she's a music expert, but she does get showbiz.
Oh, and I'm hoping tonight will be the last acoustic version of 'Get Lucky' we're treated to, but somehow I doubt it

New Products / New Cadbury Eclair flavours - Orange and Hazelnut

Spotted in Tesco last night - £1 for a 180g bag instead of £1.99. I have a vague idea orange eclairs may have been done as a limited edition many years ago (they definitely did mint ones) but the hazelnut are new. I really liked both, but the orange is my fave

New Products / Mars Mix

A 'new' bagged offering from Mars - caramel and nougat balls (separate, not together) covered in Mars chocolate. And if you're thinking 'hang on - isn't that just Mars Planets without the crispy bits?' you'd be absolutely right. This 'new' product is just a less varied version of an existing one - right down to the packaging, which is exactly the same apart from the name. What a swizz!!

New Products / CDM Strawberries and Creme

One for Spicy I think! I'm 90% certain this is based on a Milka product, so if you've already had Milka Strawberries and Yoghurt (guessing at the name) this won't be anything new; however, I very much enjoyed it, and the chunkier nature of CDM means you get more filling, which is a plus for me.
Apparently it's only a summer special edition, so get it while you can. I paid a ridiculous amount in Budgens because they overcharge for everything (Carte D'or £5.99 a tub?!) but I'd imagine you can find it cheaper elsewhere.

New Products / Snickers special editions

Snickers Extra Caramel, and Snickers Extra Nuts. Seriously. I've tried to work out if there's any point to either of these but eventually decided there were more important things to do with my time, like pick the fluff out of my bellybutton.

I think this comes under the category 'sad but inevitable'... I do hope some kind of rescue deal is done, as it would be a great shame if there were no pure entertainment stores left on the high street (to give straight teenage boys something to do on a Saturday if nothing else ). What I'd do in their shoes is concentrate on larger stores with wide selection - if you can find it in Tesco you'll probably buy it there whilst picking up your weekly shop (and it'll most likely be cheaper too), whereas you'll deliberately go to somewhere like HMV for something less mainstream. There are also still people out there like my mother, who doesn't know one end of a computer from the other and would never dream of shopping online, who would always use somewhere like HMV for Christmas and birthday gifts. (Ironically she asked me to go and find something for her there a couple of Christmases ago, apparently having completely missed where I work )
What do you think - will HMV be rescued, or is it destined to go the same way as Woolies and Comet?

So which is your favourite from this year's crop? Having wanted to vomit at the John Lewis ad for the last couple of years, I actually quite like Mr Snowman risking life and limb to buy his wife a pressie. (Although I do wonder why he didn't just order online. Perhaps he's based in the Scottish highlands.) By contrast, I'm disappointed by the M&S effort. Bring back Shirley Bassey in the ski lodge!

And the new arrivals continue! A bit like a Cadbury version of Bueno, although with more chocolate. Not especially good value (3 pieces for 60p, or at least it was in Boots) but tasty. 7/10.

CDM Golden Biscuit Crunch (biscuit and a creme filling) and CDM Toffee Popcorn. £1.58 in WHSmith. I haven't tried the Popcorn yet but the Golden Biscuit Crunch is delish 9/10.

New Products / Mars Caramel

Limited Edition - 53p in my local Tesco Express. It's literally a Mars Bar without the nougat, which I thought would just be like Galaxy Caramel; however, it's retained the chewiness you get from a standard Mars. Not entirely sure who it's supposed to appeal to though; especially when the same company make a very similar product which is already competing with Cadbury's Caramel.
