Dave's having a break apparently. It's a shame but hopefully he'll be back soon - after all where would I be without somewhere to post my Ben & Jerry's sightings :P

Many thanks for all the congratulations. Let's hope I've still got money for chocolate after buying all the things baby needs :)

I'm here, sorry just been distracted with work and the fact that Mrs Chocadmin is pregnant :)
(there's a big pile of chocolate at my feet that needs scanning and tasting)

We could add 'proper' choc like Valrhona Dulcey to that list, but realistically how many people will have actually tried that?

Merry New Year!
I've cleared out a cupboard and found a whole load of choc to scan and upload - though it may be slightly out of date, ah well.
Good luck to all of you stupid enough (like me) to have a flutter on the euro lottery tonight!

Not sure when I'll get around to it, only just seen Skyfall and Django is coming up too - annoying as cinema is too expensive to see all the great films that are coming out :(

Love 623's advent calendar so far (though I'll pretend the vice versas are the earlier recipe not the current crap).
I'm munching my way through the mega expensive Valrhona calendar - which is excellent (shame it was so pricey).

And again I'm reminded of the old chocolate 'sub' donut that Tesco used to sell - instant heart failure it felt like, boy was it good...

I thought it was ok, but could've been better. It was mostly his experiences/recollections rather than (What I would have preferred) a more general celebration of vintage confectionery and how things have changed over the years.

Kind of inevitable sadly, though the same process also gave us the excellent dairy milk and oreo.
Watching Nigel Slater the other day reminds me how we should have lamented the loss of Rowntree's far more than the take over of Cadbury.

Have to say that I find celebrations the least bad of the common variety packs now. Though good find from 623, I will definitely make a trip to M&S for that selection.
I wonder if Waitrose does anything similar?
(it's a sad day when we have to rely on the 'posh' supermarkets to produce what we want rather than the chocolate makers)

I've tried more of the nutty caramel and have to say that it doesn't taste very nutty (but you do get nuts in your teeth) - so a bit of a disappointment. Golden biscuit is still my fave - though I've never been much of a fan of popcorn anyway.
Now there's Dairy Milk with Oreo, as far as I can tell it's extremely similar to Milka with Oreo (the calories are pretty much the same), though the Dairy Milk bar is 20g bigger and you don't have to fly to Germany/import one to get hold of it :)
I've posted on HotUKdeals for getting it in Asda but apparently also available in Co-op.

There's also nutty caramel (which I haven't tried yet). Agree with Smurfy the golden biscuit is lovely. They're 2 for 3quid in Sainsburys at present.

I kinda like them - I know I shouldn't (at least not the UK version which isn't as good as the American original - probably due to some scary additives that aren't allowed by the EU).
They're really sweet and sickly, and way over priced but they're not like other doughnuts. What I really wish is that Tesco didn't stop doing the 'heart attack' doughnut, that was awesome (chocolate filled, chocolate iced, straight rather than round - used to be made in their fresh bakery section).
