Reviewing Chocolate

Hi!

Fantastic site! I was hoping that  some chocolate enthusiast here could pipe in and go over what is involved with a review of a chocolate bar.

When you purchase chocolate bar, how do you evaluate it? Aroma? Taste? Texture? Packaging?

All thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks,

Eric

Hi Eric!

I can only speak for myself, but for me it's more the brand that initially draws me in than the packaging (although eye-catching wrappers are good!) For example, I'm more likely to try a new Cadbury bar than a no-name one, although I like to try anything new so that's not much that doesn't get taste tested by me! As for whether I'll buy a bar again, it's down to taste, but that said I do think it helps if a bar looks nice (the chocolate itself rather than the wrapper).

Hope this helps

Thanks, Smurfboy.

So, you are most likely to choose a known brand and then when evaluating the chocolate you go by straight taste?

Are you concerned with texture or aroma?

Just trying to get a handle on this. I judge other food, but  not chocolate and I was hoping for some input on what goes into evaluating quality chocolate.

Thanks for the input!

Eric

Yes, whatever you say.  Ooh, is that something you're spamming the board with.  You may as well give up because we don't look at it anyway.
