General / Nick Ross leaves Crimewatch
« on: June 23, 2007, 03:06:58 am »
This has made me very sad.
The programme will not be the same without him. And although that is exactly what BBC bosses are hoping, I think they have seriously miscalculated.

The programme will be much worse without him. I don't think I'll watch and see first hand how much worse though.

I think he has done a first rate job, and deserves to be treated much better than this.

Too old indeed. What total ROT!

Ok I have just seen this advert and wondered what you all thought of him.
I suppose he's suppose to be cute and sexy and appeal to women who buy chocolate?

So why do I find him a bit creepy?

Is it just me or does anyone else think the same thing?

General / Easter is over.
« on: April 09, 2007, 01:23:08 am »
So now it is officially over and the rush to buy eggs is finished,  who will be buying the half price eggs in the sale Tesco always has?
Or have you all seen enough eggs to last you until next Easter? LOL

General / Not Really A Joke At All.
« on: March 27, 2007, 08:27:20 pm »

I found this on a joke site, but it was too true not to pass on.

As the flashing lights blinked in his rear view mirror, Jack took a long look at his speedometer before slowing down: 73 in a 55 zone. Fourth time in as many months. How could a guy get caught so often?

When his car had slowed to 10 miles an hour, Jack pulled over, but only partially. Let the cop worry about the potential traffic hazard. Maybe some other car will tweak his backside with a mirror. The cop was stepping out of his car, the big pad in hand.

Bob? Bob From Church? Jack sunk farther into his trench coat. This was worse than the coming ticket. A Christian cop catching a guy from his own church. A guy who happened to be a little eager to get home after a long day at the office. Jumping out of the car, he approached a man he saw every Sunday, a man he'd never seen in uniform.

"Hi, Bob. Fancy meeting you like this."

"Hello, Jack." No smile.

"Guess you caught me red-handed in a rush to see my wife and kids."

"Yeah, I guess."

Bob seemed uncertain. Good. "I've seen some long days at the office lately. I'm afraid I bent the rules a bit-just this once."

Jack toed at a pebble on the pavement.

"Diane said something about roast beef and potatoes tonight. Know what I mean?"

"I know what you mean. I also know that you have a reputation in our precinct."

Ouch. This was not going in the right direction. Time to change tactics.

"What'd you clock me at?"

"Seventy-one. Would you sit back in your car, please?"

"Now wait a minute here, Bob. I checked as soon as I saw you. I was barely nudging 65." The lie seemed to come easier with every ticket.

"Please, Jack, in the car."

Flustered, Jack hunched himself through the still-open door. Slamming it shut, he stared at the dashboard. He was in no rush to open the window. The minutes ticked by. Bob scribbled away on the pad. Why hadn't he asked for a driver's license?

Whatever the reason, it would be a month of Sundays before Jack ever sat near this cop again.

A tap on the door jerked his head to the left. There was Bob, a folded paper in hand. Jack rolled down the window a mere two inches, just enough room for Bob to pass him the slip.

"Thanks." Jack could not quite keep the sneer out of his voice.

Bob returned to his car without a word. Jack watched his retreat in the mirror. Jack unfolded the sheet of paper. How much was this one going to cost? Wait a minute. What was this? Some kind of joke? Certainly not a ticket. Jack began to read:

Dear Jack,
Once upon a time I had a daughter. She was six when killed by a car. You guessed it - a speeding driver. A fine and three months in jail, and the man was free. Free to hug his daughters. All three of them. I only had one, and I'm going to have to wait until heaven before I can ever hug her again. A thousand times I've tried to forgive that man. A thousand times I thought I had. Maybe I did, but I need to do it again. Even now. Pray for me. And be careful. My son is all I have left.

Jack twisted around in time to see Bob's car pull away and head down the road. Jack watched until it disappeared. A full 15 minutes later, he, too, pulled away and drove slowly home, praying for forgiveness and hugging a surprised wife and kids when he arrived.

Life is precious. Handle with care. Drive safely and carefully.

Maybe it is just a story this time, but I know it happens, and for someone this story is more than just a life lesson for others, for some people out there it is something they live with every day. I feel for them so much.

General / Chocolat
« on: March 25, 2007, 04:18:01 am »
I watched this movie tonight.
Loved Johnny Depp in it. Very cute.Big%20smile

My question is, do any of you really think chilli pepper would go with chocolate, (for anyone who hasn't seen it, in the movie she puts it in some of the chocolates she makes and also grates it finely onto the top of some hot chocolate) and have any of you tried it?

Just curious to find out what you think before deciding whether or not to try it myself.LOL

Old Products / Fizz bombs.
« on: March 22, 2007, 02:18:59 am »
Help, what are fizz bombs and can you still buy them anywhere?
My mum loved them and I would love to be able to get her some as a surprise.

Can anyone help me or are they gone forever?

General / What are you reading?
« on: March 21, 2007, 01:11:44 am »
If you read, what do you read, a book or a magazine or a newspaper? And what's it called?

I read books a lot (or should that be a lot of books?) and at the moment I'm reading Hawksong by Amelia Atwater Rhodes.

It's really good.

I'm always looking for good books to read so have any of you any ideas of ones I could try?

General / Doctors/Dentists.
« on: March 19, 2007, 07:16:21 pm »
I took a day off today to visit the doctors. (I have a small lump on the base of my gum)
I went in and he looked at it and said, I don't think it's anything to worry about, but I'll give you some anti-biotics.

Make an appointment to see your dentist, he'll have an x-ray machine of his own, so it'll be quicker than going to the hospital. LOL

Now I have to have another day off on Wednesday for my 5 minute (it was all I could get and believe me I was grateful for that) dentist appointment.

Has this ever happened to any of you?  I've heard of being referred to another doctor, but not to a dentist. I suppose it makes perfect sense if you think about it, but it's a new one on me.LOL

New Products / Buchanan's assorted creams
« on: March 19, 2007, 03:44:43 pm »
Right. I'm not sure if these should go into the new or old section, but since I'd never seen them before they were new to me so I plumped for this one.Smile

I saw them at my local Wilkinson's store and though about buying some.

(It was while I was looking for more info on these that I found this site)

I've looked all over, but though I can find places that sell them I can't find anywhere that will tell me if they might be any good.

I love soft centers and these ones have lime flavour filling in some of them. YUM!

Can anyone help?

General / Marmite yes or no?
« on: March 16, 2007, 08:53:35 pm »
Having seen bethypoos mention it in the sandwich thread I just wondered for the rest of you.
Marmite - Yay or Nay?

I would be a Nay, it doesn't taste very nice to me.

General / Edit profile.
« on: March 14, 2007, 06:20:13 pm »
Can anyone tell me why I can't edit my profile?

When I press the edit profile button it takes me back to the registration page, and I don't know what to do.

Any help would be fab. Thanks.
